Davis Women in Business takes on Lake Tahoe!

From November 18th to November 20th, the DWIB family went on its first Fall Leadership Retreat to South Lake Tahoe! The retreat was designed for the members to build stronger bonds with each while delving into the clubs three core values: Friendship, Diversity, and Empowerment.

This retreat gave the ladies a chance to destress from the pressure of school and allowed them to relax in beautiful snowy Lake Tahoe.

We asked some of the ladies about what their experience was like on their first DWIB trip.

Q:What was your favorite aspect of the retreat?

“My favorite aspect of the retreat was that we were all there to meet new people. With DWIB being such a new organization, the members at first, including me, felt a bit distanced from other members. After this retreat, I can honestly say that I have found a second family to go to for anything and am super grateful for the experience."

“Lean in circles and Cross the Line.”

“I really loved the atmosphere of the retreat. I am an introvert and before going on the retreat I was a little worried about not having enough energy on the trip. I greatly appreciated the down time we got because I was able to spend some time to myself, to kind of re-energize myself for more activities and socializing!”

Q: What did you take away from this experience?

“ I learned that it's ok to go into a situation where I am not familiar with the people. In a matter of 2 short days in Tahoe, I was able to build relationships with a lot of members and I believe this is just the start of an amazing year with DWIB.”

“It takes a while for people to open up, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying to get to know them”

“My main take away from this retreat is the reassurance that you are not alone in the battles that you face. We were able to talk about things going on in our lives and I realized that there are so many other people facing similar problems as you are. It is nice to know that you can talk about your problems without having to worry so much about what the other person will think, especially when they know exactly what you are feeling.”

Q: What was your most memorable memory from the retreat?

“My favorite memory from the retreat was definitely playing in the snow with my fam. Although we were FREEZING we had so much fun and bonded so much from this retreat.”

“Taking pictures and playing in the snow”
