DWIB's Declassified Finals Survival Guide: Study Spaces


With finals approaching, it's important to establish a good study space. Everyone works differently in different environments but finding the right study space can help you study more effectively and efficiently. Here are some of our favorite study spaces in and near Davis that might become your favorite place to study as well! 


1. Peter J. Shields Library

  • Where: NW Quad of UC Davis
  • Why: Lots of tables and seats available, outlets and good lighting in main reading room, different noise levels in different areas
  • Hours: To see extended hours for finals week visit here.

2. Student Community Center (SCC)

  • Where: SCC is located at UC Davis across from Rock Hall and by the Silo. 
  • Why: multiple rooms available, outside food and drinks allowed, noise level varies, extended final hours, and south coho nearby if you need food or a drink
  • Hours: To see extended hours for finals week visit here.

3. Hyatt Place UC Davis

  • Where173 Old Davis Rd, Davis, CA 95616
  • Why: Free wifi, holiday decorations, comfy chairs, large tables, outside food/drinks allowed, space for groups where people can talk and space for individuals who prefer silence, great place for group study sessions and/or reading and memorizing.
  • Hours: Open 24 hours!  

4. Temple Coffee Roasters

  • Where: 1010 9th St, Sacramento, CA 95814
  • Why: Power outlets, wifi, indoor and outdoor seating, various noise levels depending on the time, and delicious drinks
  • Hours: 6 AM - 11 PM
