Celeste Gonzalez: DWIB Member Spotlight

“By being surrounded with like minded and highly driven women, it [Davis Women in Business] pushed me to do even better. Now I'm putting myself out there, networking, and becoming an authority figure in my field.”

Managerial Economics major and current senior, Celeste Gonzalez, has taken her lessons and support from the DWIB community and turned it into a pathway to her future career. Celeste joined RicketyRoo, a local search engine optimization (SEO) agency, as a Junior SEO Specialist. RicketyRoo is a remote company that focuses on organic growth for local businesses. They provide custom solutions for their clients and guarantee traffic and engagement. Celeste used social media as a tool to make connections with others in the SEO industry. She used Twitter as a tool to find her online community which allowed her to share her SEO knowledge and increase it through interacting with others. 

She was even able to take her experiences online, in her internship and through DWIB to apply and attain freelance job offers and an exciting new collaboration with Semrush, a SEO tool/resource. In the future, Celeste hopes to make more connections in the industry, continue as a full-time employee at RicketyRoo and eventually speak at an SEO conference. 

Events like OWN IT and even DWIB general meetings are great opportunities to practice networking and actually network. For Celeste, DWIB has been a key part of her journey thus far and she hopes it will prepare her further for the future. Specifically, she said “DWIB can prepare me in understanding how to nurture business relationships and to learn how to pitch myself to the company I currently work for and to conferences.” Aside from developing new skills, she says one of her favorite things about DWIB has been the fact that it exposed her to different career options, offered job opportunities, but most importantly “has constantly motivated me to do better as a person and as a businesswoman.”
